The poor hubby is work 7 days a week. 6 - 10 hour days and 8 hours on Sunday. He's exhausted and still has at least 3 more weeks of this to go. But we do like the extra cash ;)
However, it puts a wrench into going to church. We've been struggling for a while with deciding what to do about church. We've been going off and on to the church that he kinda grew up in and his mom goes to it as well. But we really decided that it's not for us. So we were going to start to try to find a new church and then all this overtime started in. So, I haven't been going since he's working. Lame excuse, but I know he doesn't want me going to look for a new church without him.
So I'm improvising.
Last night my eye caught a book on my shelf The Purpose Driven Life. I started it a long time ago and never finished it. So, I'm starting over and using that as my devotional time. I'll probably do it a few times a week (I hope) and most importantly on Sundays.
Today's question at the end was, "In spite of all the advertising around me, how can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself?"
This week, I'm going to try to keep that in the back of my mind.

A Lovey-Dovey Post
We're almost at the 3 and a 1/2 month mark!
When we got married, it was in a flash and things weren't exactly in place. We both still had roommates and it took a while for "the two to become one".
I'm not sure if it's that we are finally settling into a nice routine and married life is setting in; but falling in love with your husband more and more every day is the best thing!
I am blessed to have an amazing husband!
(Note to self: read this when Brian does something that makes you mad) lol.

Helicopters
You have to remind yourself sometimes that your husband is boy. Men, at times, are very different from women. Well, more then "at times".
Brian doesn't indulge in things he wants very often, but when he really wants something, I try my best to get it for him.
This past thing was a remote control helicopter.
So, we went on the trip to Best Buy, after much research on his part, of course. We make a loop around the store. No helicopter in sight. We are mid-loop for the 2nd time when I ask if he wants some help. Of course, him being a man, he says no. So, I do it.
We never would have found it. It was up by the registers. Needless to say, he got his toy.
I'm not sure I love the helicopter so much. But it only last 7 minutes. Then he needs to power up again.
I guess 7 minutes of interrupting my tv show isn't so bad for a bit of enjoyment for him.
He deserves it.

Things to do...
Lets face it ladies....when you are dating, men will do anything with you! That changes a bit once you're married.
The husband and I love to watch movies. But you can only watch so many movies with in a day/week before you're ready for something else. We've been wracking our brains lately trying to find things that are cheap (because we are the poor, young married couple) to do together.
B works outside all day and I work inside all day. I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this. He tends to want to do things inside and I tend to want to do things inside. Sigh. What to do?
So, let me ask you. What do you do to entertain yourselves? (That's cheap and something couples can do).

Hello Again!
It has been a while. We've been busy!
Not this past weekend, but the weekend before, Brian and I finally moved all of our things together. THANK GOD! So, we were busy moving, putting things into place, going through things and just enjoying being in our space together.
I feel more like a wife now. Or maybe more married now. I guess those both go hand-in-hand.
Speaking of feeling more like a wife, I put on my Betty Crocker gloves today! I've been hunting down recipes. I read a book a while ago and then Emily told me that the woman who wrote the book has a website. http://thepioneerwoman.com She's a house wife, on a ranch, and I think she's pretty neat. Back to the connection- this is where I got the recipe for today's adventure.
I haven't tried it yet, I'm waiting for the hubby to come home to try it, because I'm sure he'll want to dig in! He loves asparagus just as much as I do. So I made Asparagus Cheese Tarts.

I'm not sure which one looks better...The one on the left has more asparagus, but the one on the right looks more crispy!
What do you think?

Moving Day!
At last, it has almost come!
Brian and I will officially have a place to ourselves by Saturday night!
Because we decided to get married on a whim (no I was not and am not prego), we both had leases with our roommates. I've been bunking up with him at his place in the meantime.
My lease is finally up and his roommate decided he would like to move out. So we are packing up the truck Friday night and then unloading (hopefully) on Saturday morning. We aren't exactly sure when his roommate is moving all of his stuff out, that will depend on when we can move all my stuff in.
And the poor hubby has to work on Friday too! In the 100+ degree weather. It's not exactly the best conditions to be moving in. But we must. I don't think I can wait any longer!
We also stopped at Ikea on our way home from NJ. We got a desk and a small "entertainment" center for the t.v. It'll be a nice start to our lives together! Oh! And we also got a little cute little patio set for the deck. Can't wait to get it all set up!
Yey!

Home is where you hang your hat.
Lets face the facts, Brian and I got married before we had our living situation worked out.
He is still in his lease and I'm done my lease in the middle of August. So, we've been trying to figure out what is the best situation for our budget. The budget is tight to begin with. And it just seems silly to me to sink $800+ into a halfway decent apartment. I do love the view we have off the balcony, the lake, but it's still the apartment life.
So, I was talking with my friend Jayme about wanting to get a house, but I just didn't see how we could afford to do it. She mentioned looking up to see if they have any deals for teachers. So I found a good program that gives 50% discounts to HUD homes. There are a few catches though. Most of the houses aren't in the best areas, you have to stay in the house for 3 years or you have to pay the full price and there aren't a lot of houses that are listed.
But 50%! That's a steal!
I'm not sure if we'll find a house that we like through this deal. But maybe we'll get lucky? Or maybe we'll have just have to stay put for a while. Who knows.
All I know is that I'm looking forward to August 20th. Then Brian and I will have our own space and hopefully get a little more settled into life.
